TGA | Technische Gebäudeausrüstung
Definition of TGA
TGA is the abbreviation for “Technische Gebäudeausrüstung” (Technical Building Equipment), which is also generally known as building services engineering, building technology, or building systems engineering. This generally refers to all technical measures that are responsible for the technical supply of buildings.
Technical building equipment generally includes all building technology trades, including energy technology systems (such as electrical systems, gas and water systems, or heat generation systems), systems for material disposal (such as wastewater systems, etc.), and telecommunications systems (such as data networks, security technology, fire alarm technology, etc.).
The classic sub-areas
A concrete subdivision of the individual TGA trades takes place both in DIN 276 (regarding the cost groups for building construction and civil engineering) and in the HOAI (Fee Structure for Architects and Engineers). The trades are thus divided into:
– Wastewater, water and gas systems
– Heat supply systems
– Air conditioning systems
– Electrical systems
– Communication, security and information technology systems
– Conveyor systems
– User-specific and process engineering systems
– Building and system automation
– Other measures for technical systems
Furthermore, technical building equipment systems also exist in the cost groups of civil engineering measures or outdoor facilities, which have not been taken into account here.
Share of TGA in today’s construction projects
Within the framework of technical development and the ever-increasing complexity of technical systems in residential and commercial buildings or special structures, the TGA trades have become increasingly important over the last few decades.
Today, depending on the type of building, the share of technical building equipment in building construction is between 25 and 60%.
Furthermore, within the framework of the federal government’s economic objectives and the general public’s greater awareness of environmental protection, regenerative energy generation systems are becoming increasingly important, which are exclusively assigned to the TGA. This includes not only photovoltaic open-space systems or so-called solar parks, but also wind turbines, combined heat and power plants or electric charging infrastructure systems for electromobility.
Typical specialist companies
Typical specialist trade companies in technical building equipment include:
– Electrical installation companies
– Heating and plumbing companies
– Ventilation construction companies
– Specialist companies for telecommunications technology
– Specialist companies for fire alarm technology
– Specialist companies for earthing and lightning protection systems
– Specialist companies for sprinkler systems
– Civil engineering companies for infrastructure systems
– and other specialist companies / construction companies
Our engineering office for TGA
As an engineering office in the field of technical building equipment, we are at your side in terms of planning, construction supervision/construction management, construction support and evaluation on request. We develop efficient and realistic concepts and accompany construction projects until the final completion of the technical systems. Since we are not only pure building technicians but also building physicists, we naturally take into account all necessary aspects of energy efficiency in order to be able to offer future-oriented solutions.
